Anthony J. Patterson’s Gloria

The Gloria, composed by Anthony J. Patterson, enjoyed its world premiere with the National Chorale, in our 2022-2023 season. It was written for the National Chorale at the behest of our artistic director, Dr. Everett McCorvey. It is dedicated to Mr. Patterson’s father, Richard Patterson, who recently passed away. With text from the Latin Gloria prayer, it is meant to be an exaltation of life in the midst of one of the most challenging moments in our collective and his personal consciousness. One of the goals of Dr. McCorvey is to support and champion new American works for the concert stage. With this world premier, the National Chorale is delighted to be able to add this new work to the canon of American choral music.
